Game Management

After playing at a couple of new sites this year I thought I would just put up some good ideas for others to consider.

Narrative based games.  The last two sites both have a narrative approach to how they run their games this allows them to adjust the tempo and also site usage to ensure an enjoyable player experience.  This allows for things like random airstrikes to slow down teams who are pretty good and who would otherwise completely dominate one side as well as secondary missions.

Mobile Spawn posts.  This was another cracking idea.  The idea here is that the team have a designated first aid point (in reality a person with a medic helmet) who moves around the battlefield keeping his team in the game.  This used a number counter to keep a track of how many casualties had been taken to form part of the end of game score.  From my experience at AI500 this is something that could remove the pain and suffering of having to walk back up the steep hill and also means that it keeps players close to the battle rather than allowing lulls where one side has to re-org miles away and then have a hard slog back into the game.  In this variant the Medic never dies but takes a hit himself and moves back fifty feet or so.

Designated Medics.  This is an alternative to the mobile spawn post.  Each side has a couple (depends on number of players) of designated medics.  These guys may either move to a casualty or have a casualty brought to them.  The movement of a casualty is with at least one hand on the casualty and leading him to the medic.  The medic period however is only 5 seconds which means a fast turn around of players.  Only medics can medic medics :) which means have to keep them safe from harm.

I will add more as I find things I like
